Introducing the new “moontoucht” line created with chained leather and embellished with pearls and specialty beads at Spring Fling, a juried artisan show at Anderson County Museum, this Friday, March 30 from 4 to 8pm, and Saturday, March 31 from 10 to 4pm. Two Gather Beads will feature these unique art jewelry bracelets along with 30 other artisans selling hand crafted items. After this weekend, the “moontoucht” line can be found at Gallery 313 downtown Anderson at 305 N Main St.

Labor Day Omnium – September 2 -4

September 2 – 4, 2011 is the 2011 Labor Day Omnium & Celebrate Anderson; Labor Day Omnium is a USA Cycling National Racing event and was known locally last year as the Tour de La France Race. Tour de la France Time Trials will be Friday, September 2 a 9.71 mile race with the start finish line at the Anderson County Civic Center. The Tour de la France Criterium a four-corner circuit through downtown Anderson starts at noon on Saturday, September 3 with amateur, pro, and handcycling races. Events start at 8 am with distance races, the “Pimp Your Trike” Charity Pedal Race showcasing at 10 am at Courthouse Plaza, SafeKids Races at 10:30 am, and Safe Kids Recreational Course riding from 11 to 12 noon. Sunday September 4 is the Road Race through Anderson County.

The weekend culminates with the Awards Ceremony at 6:00 at the Civic Center, and Celebrate Anderson beginning at 7:00, a family outing and jazz is the theme this year; plus the tradition of patriotic music in sequence to fireworks. This year’s Celebrate Anderson entertainment is different, hometown artists will perform; local talent provided by the TL Hanna Jazz Band, GAMAC’s Electric City Big Band (Alan Nowell, Director) and Whitney Walters, who is a smooth Jazz artist from the Upstate with several Andersonian band members.

Tour de la First Friday!!!

Downtown Anderson’s First Friday kicks off the 2011 Labor Day Omnium a USA Cycling National Racing event formerly known as the Tour de la France & Celebrate Anderson;

Come downtown and visit our shops to get a start on the Labor Day weekend and all the bike racing events planned for the weekend. It’s all about the racing with checkered flags and Pedal Punch. Possibly even a sneak preview of some of the entries for the “Pimp Your Trike” charity race.” Pixel Point will have a “guess the number of entrants in selected Tour de la France Criterium Races” contest. You are sure to find a special treat as well as special gifts at all the shops that will be open from 5 to 8 pm.

Watermelon Mania ….. downtown Anderson!

It’s Watermelon Mania for First Friday this month in Downtown Anderson!

Watermelon is the inspiration…….with watermelon treats and watermelon colored store fronts. Two Gather Beads will be serving watermelon sangria and watermelon salsa. Pixel Point will have a “guess the number of watermelon seeds” contest. The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate! You are sure to find a special treat as well as special gifts at all the shops that will be open.
