The weekend culminates with the Awards Ceremony at 6:00 at the Civic Center, and Celebrate Anderson beginning at 7:00, a family outing and  jazz is the theme this year; plus the tradition of patriotic music in sequence to fireworks. This year’s Celebrate Anderson entertainment is different, hometown artists will perform; local talent provided by the TL Hanna Jazz Band, GAMAC’s Electric City Big Band (Alan Nowell, Director) and Whitney Walters, who is a smooth Jazz artist from the Upstate with several Andersonian band members.

Come join the fun!!

Come downtown and visit our shops to get a start on the Labor Day weekend and all the bike racing events planned for the weekend.  It’s all about the racing with checkered flags and Pedal Punch.  Possibly even a sneak preview of some of the entries for the “Pimp Your Trike” charity race.”  Pixel Point will have a “guess the number of entrants in selected Tour de la France Criterium Races” contest.  You are sure to find a special treat as well as special gifts at all the shops that will be open from 5 to 8 pm.

Watermelon is the inspiration…….with watermelon treats and watermelon colored store fronts.  Two Gather Beads will be serving watermelon sangria and watermelon salsa.  Pixel Point will have a “guess the number of watermelon seeds” contest.  The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate!  You are sure to find a special treat as well as special gifts at all the shops that will be open.

Check out what watermelon delights and other activities will be featured at all the First Friday businesses from 5 to 8 this Friday, August 5.

These are just one of the designs we are putting together for the new Slick-Wicked jewelry line.   Leather and chain bracelets in gunmetal and silver with a cool drawstring clasp.   Ask one of the Slick-Wicked girls about getting one or head to Two Gather Beads in downtown Anderson!

The results are in!   Congratulations to our grand prize winner Kinsey McClure!  and her Feathered Eyes entry that was on display at eyeZinga!  Runner up went to Kelly Odom Smith for those beautiful Merazz shoes that were on display at Kitchen Emporium.   Thanks to all of you who entered all those very, very coolest of cool shoes!   And a big thanks to all of you who came downtown to vote and share in all the festivities!
